As it is written “The wages of sin is death!” When most of us think about death we generally relate it to that of a physical nature. Often times it encompasses this type of passing but equally includes the death of your spirit and relationship with the Father. Your connection to God is your life support! When you choose to disconnect the umbilical cord you’re cutting your life line and on the road to spiritual suffocation.
We have been taught that mercy is always waiting for us whenever we turn our back on God. We’re misled into believing that once we come to the altar we have an instant reservation into The Kingdom of Heaven. Through this type of teaching the accountability to endure to and through the end has been placed on a shelf causing many to believe that regardless of their actions they have been given a one way ticket to heaven. Contrary to belief, it does not include an “All Access” pass to live carelessly by forsaking the commandments and ordinances of God.
Riding the waves of sin we rarely stop to ask ourselves, “When will the cords of mercy begin to unravel?” Will mercy truly endure through our continual and willful disobedience to God? Do we really believe that God always has His eyes upon us and if so where has the fear of God vanished to that’s caused us to feel so comfortable living contrary to the standard in which God desires?
As children many of our parents allowed us to indulge again by our pleading, “Just One More Time...Please!” God the Father may not have the same thought in mind when it comes to going against His direction. Like our parents, should we expect God to give in to our desires even though His word has already been established? Should we assume that God himself will altar his will to give into ours?
“One More Time” has been the difference between life and death for someone. It unlocked the door of addiction that demolished somebody’s potential. What has it stolen from you? Has it taken away something you once truly deemed as valuable?
Despite our childlike fascinations “One More Time” is not a harmless carousel ride or a favorite cartoon we enjoyed watching as children. “One More Time” is a cunning deceiver designed to destroy your life and set you back. It will rob you of every promise from God and every time you agree to go another round with deception you are taking a “one...two” punch that will eventually knock you out!
“One More Time” walks in subtly but destroys incomparably. By the time you sober up to it’s tactics it cost more than you initially bargained for. When it comes time to pay for your purchases (sins) you will quickly discover that you don’t have enough to cover the debt! This is the reason why Christ, by the command of the Father, went to the cross to cover what you could not afford!
In truly considering the importance of getting serious with God one must decide if taking their own route is better than following a proven map. We are all on a journey! Many have already crossed and tried the paths that others will eventually travel.
By getting serious with God you are also getting serious with your life. You are declaring that you will not forfeit the blessings of God for temporary satisfaction regardless of it’s allurement. You are confessing by your actions that you will endure to the end no matter the cost.
Remember, God gave us dominion over all of the works of the flesh. He never declared it would be easy and He gave us the power of resisting. He gave us the instruction to guard our mind and to speak His word over every situation: Good, Bad or Indifferent!
With a good understanding of what pleases God through studying His word and a sincere desire to please Him you can begin anew! Make a commitment because God’s ordained purpose for your future and the mentorship of those following behind you greatly depend upon your obedience!
