Dear Bully,

Do you know how that made me feel?  Do you know what it’s like to not feel safe at school?  Bully, because of you, I thought nobody would care.  At lunch I sit with people who aren’t nice to me because everybody else hates me because of what you said that wasn’t true but I would also like to thank you.  I am saying thank you because without you hurting me and trying to bring me down, it has only made me stronger.

From,

Lindsey

Karen's Letter
I am thankful that my daughter and I have an open relationship and share everything.  Together, we have worked through the pain that you caused and have become closer and stronger, so for that, I thank you.

I thank you, too, for forcing my daughter to realize that she is a much stronger person than she thought she was and will rise above the hurt you caused. She has forgiven you.

With all my heart,

Karen
Dear Bully,

I use the word ‘dear’ because I know that deep down inside you there is a good person that has somehow been lost.

I need you to know how much your actions hurt my daughter. She cries – a lot, she doesn’t want to go to school, she feels as if everyone is staring at her and talking about her – all because of your actions.

I am sad that you are hurting and feel that you have to make others hurt too.  You need to know that there are lots of people out there that can help you overcome your pain so that you don’t hurt anyone else.  Each time you hurt someone with your words or actions, your pain grows bigger and unless you stop and get help, you have chosen to go down a path that is not healthy.

13-year old Lindsey never would've believed that someone would take a private video of her in a public restroom without her knowledge and circulate it amongst her peers. When the rumors began to reach other students and spread to another school within the same day, Lindsey became the target of malicious teasing by text messages and social media.  Finding herself on an emotional road downhill due to the humiliation, Lindsey knew she needed help. Thankfully, Lindsey's Mother quickly intervened and now Lindsey is an advocate fighting against the epidemic of bullying. Read both letters to a bully written by Lindsey and her mother, Karen.
